Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Asset Management (SuMi TRUST) was selected as “Fund House of the Year Japan” in the Asian Investor Asset Management Awards 2019.

One of the key factors which lead to our selection as the winner of the award is our strong presence as one of the leading asset managers in the Asia-Pacific region, with a total AuM of USD 613 billion (as of 31st March 2019). Even under the challenging market environment of 2018, SuMi TRUST was able to gain a new multibillion-dollar passive mandate for both global equity and Japan equity portfolios from a sovereign wealth fund.

In terms of product-line up, SuMi TRUST launched three new UCITS funds in 2018. As a result, there are now five Japan equity strategies available through UCITS-structured funds. Our flagship Japan Small Cap Strategy has been particularly successful and has delivered more than 10% returns per annum since its inception in 2005 (as of 31st March 2019).

Furthermore, SuMi TRUST was singled out in the Tokyo Financial Awards 2018 winning the ESG Investment Category award for its work contributing to the spread of ESG Investment in Japan.

We will continue to strive for superior fund performance and dedicate ourselves to providing services that fulfill our customers’ needs.
